2024-2025 AUDUBON PTSA BOARD

 

The Audubon PTSA Board is a group of elected volunteers (called officers) who have oversight and accountability for the PTSA's programs and budget. Please take a moment to read the short biographies of each of our talented and hardworking board members.

Andrea Turnbull, President

Andrea is a stay-at-home mom to Alexis (6th grade) and Quinn (3rd grade). She is a Pacific Northwest native and was formerly a structural engineer. As a volunteer, Andrea is happy helping around the classroom and teaching art docent lessons. When not driving her kids to various activities and otherwise momming, Andrea enjoys reading, music, and gardening.

Sarah Rafuse, Secretary

Sarah, mom of Beck (3rd grade), is excited to serve on the PTSA board for her 2nd year, her first as Secretary.  A lifelong Washington resident, Sarah has lived in Redmond with her husband Jeff since 2011.  Outside of PTSA, she works for an Insurance brokerage firm and enjoys traveling, wine, reading, and spending time with friends and family. Sarah is eager to help foster a sense of community and belonging throughout the Audubon community for the 2024-2025 school year. Go Owls!

 

Jennifer Dotson, Treasurer

Jennifer is serving as Treasurer this year. During remote learning, she assisted as Treasurer co-chair and is excited to return to the PTSA Board. Mom to Tyler (3rd grade) and Jacob (8th grade), she grew up on the Eastside and has lived in Western Washington for her entire life. She works in the video game industry and is currently the localization Program Manager for Minecraft.

 

 

Meredith Rivin, VP Communications

Meredith is serving her third year on the Audubon PTSA Board, and her second year as the VP of Communications. She is originally from southern California, but has lived in Redmond with her family since 2015. She has a son, Oliver, in 4th grade for the 2024-2025 school year, and a daughter, Emily, in Kindergarten. In her other life, she works as a paleontologist and worked at the Burke Museum in Seattle, but is taking time off to spend time with her kids. She also enjoys running, gardening, and spending time outdoors with her dog. She’s excited to bring more visibility to the PTSA at Audubon and to encourage more involvement in the community!

 

Magdalena Minchev, Co-VP School Services

Magdalena is serving her second year as VP of School Services on the Audubon PTSA Board. Last year, she chaired the yearbook, social media, organized snacks, volunteered as an Art Docent, and supported the school counselor in assisting families in need. Mum of Sofia, in 4th grade. A freelance marketing consultant, Magdalena also enjoys cooking, cycling, and exploring new trails. She’s excited to keep contributing to the Audubon community.

 

 

Aviv Arowesty-Balas, Co-VP School Services

Aviv Arowesty-Balas, a dedicated parent and community leader, is in her first year on the PTSA board as the VP of school services. She has already made a significant impact as the creative mind behind our teacher appreciation events. In addition to her board role, Aviv has served as an Art Docent and volunteered in her son's classrooms. She is the proud mother of Dylan (1st grade) and Amy (pre-K). Aviv is a passionate community builder with a strong background in events planning, managing communities, and leading a voluntary community project that includes 200 volunteers supporting families in need. 
Aviv and her family love exploring Washington, reading, cooking, and hiking together.

 

 

Marie Beverly, VP Events

Marie has been with the Audubon community since 2012 when her oldest (Redmond Highschool Class of 2023!) joined in 2nd grade, and originally joined the PTSA Board in 2014, serving as Treasurer for two years. Marie is the proud mom of Andy (4th Grade) and has served the last two school years as the Treasurer and is now doing Events! Marie, along with her husband Craig, have volunteered in various Audubon activities over the years, including Welcome Back Bash!, Movie Nights, Field Days (Popcorn!), Idylwood and other field trips, as well as several fundraising events for the school. Marie works in the finance department for a local life-science company and is a licensed CPA. Her family enjoys sailing in the Puget Sound, bonfires and hanging out in the front yard of their home with all the neighborhood kids playing nearby. 

 

 

Samantha Bogart, VP Fundraising

Samantha is serving her first year on the PTSA as VP of Fundraising. She is originally from Southern California and has been in Washington since 2021. Samantha was a Massage Therapist in California for over eight years and now works part-time at a chiropractic office. When she is not working, she enjoys the outdoors, baking and crafting. Samantha has two Audubon Owls, Wyatt (2nd grade) and Mia (Kindergarten), their younger sister, Emma (3yrs old), will join them at Audubon in two years.

 

 

Hallie Naber, VP Outreach

Hallie is excited to be serving her first year on the PTSA board as VP of Outreach, as she is passionate about volunteering and fostering involvement in the community. She is originally from Illinois, and has happily settled in Washington since 2020.  Hallie worked for many years as a High School Spanish teacher in California, and now enjoys stay-at-home momming to three children: Evelyn (1st grade), James (Pre-K), and Lillian (2 yrs old).  In her “free” time, she runs a small macrame business called Boho Baby Macrame, and loves doing all things crafty with her family.
