Board of Directors - Roles & Responsibilities
The PTSA Board of Directors oversees various key roles and responsibilities within the organization, encompassing event coordination, fundraising, communication facilitation, student advocacy, and collaboration with school administrators. Their collective efforts aim to foster a supportive, collaborative environment that strengthens the school community and enhances the educational experience.

President
The PTSA President offers leadership and support to various groups, presides over meetings, appoints committee members, maintains communication with the school, participates in PTSA-related events, and represents the PTSA at council meetings and state workshops. This role's time commitment varies based on the president's leadership style and can be held by one or shared by two co-presidents.
Secretary
The Secretary plays a crucial role in the PTSA by maintaining records. He/she attends and documents minutes for board and General PTSA meetings, handles meeting-related correspondence, and maintains attendance records. Additionally, he/she oversees legal documents and permanent records. This position suits individuals who are highly organized, and skilled in writing and summarization. The monthly time commitment is approximately 5-7 hours, encompassing both Board and General PTSA meetings.
VP Communications
If there is a writer, graphic artist, blogger, journalist, or marketer somewhere inside you, then the VP of Communications just might be for you. The VP of Communications is an incredibly fun and creative position that oversees the chairs who produce the Audubon PTSA newsletter eNews, the PTSA website, and the annual student directory.
VP Student Enrichment
The VP of Student Enrichment guides programs that are directly related to enhancing the educational experiences of all of the students of our school and manages chairs for Reflections, Extended classes, Spelling Bee, Passport Club, Math Challenge, and Art Docent. This role is typically filled by someone who has special interests in Art Education and would like to help develop programs that directly impact our kids' learning experiences.
VP Fundraising
The VP of Fundraising is responsible for organizing both fundraising school events and more discreet fundraising activities to support the PTSA. They oversee Fundraising Drives, Redmond SchoolPool, and Grant Writing, requiring knowledge of fundraising procedures. This role offers a creative opportunity to raise funds, with a substantial yet rewarding time commitment of 4-5 hours per week in Aug/Sep/Oct and May, and 1-2 hours per week in other months.
VP Events
The VP of Events oversees the planning and execution of fun, educational, and community-building family events and manages chairs for events such as: Back to School Bash, Ice Cream Social, International Festival, Games Night, Gaga Ball Tournament, and any others that you'd love to have! VP School Services
The VP of School Services is responsible for managing services that directly benefit our school community and supervising Chairs for Emergency Preparation, Hearing and Vision, Morning Valets, Staff Appreciation, Student Photos, Yearbook, and Kindergarten Registration. In addition, they serve as a Special Needs Liaison with the school counselor. This role provides a great opportunity to give back to our school.
Treasurer
The Treasurer manages the deposit and disbursement of dues and funds, compiles a monthly Treasurer's report, prepares mid-year and end-of-year summaries, and ensures compliance with necessary government paperwork. This role also involves maintaining meticulous financial records and presenting them to an annual audit committee. If you have an eye for detail and a head for numbers, this position is for you.
VP Outreach
The role of VP of Outreach at Audubon is highly significant. Its primary objective is to create a welcoming and inclusive community. This role oversees various functions, such as recruiting volunteers, coordinating events, and liaising with room parents. The aim of the outreach is to ensure that the Audubon PTSA effectively represents the diversity and needs of our community.
