Audubon Extended Classes key changes starting 2018/19 - READ ME FIRST!

Audubon PTSA provides the Extended Classes program for all Audubon students. As a benefit to current PTSA members, members get access to early registration for extended classes with a discount! Non-members may enroll during regular registration period. The dates for these are listed below. 

As part of the PTSA student enrichment effort to support the Audubon education, there will be no after school Extended Class open to kindergarteners for developmental and safety reasons for this age group. Some before school Extended Classes will be available to kindergarteners at the discretion of the class providers.

How to register?

1. Registration is online only at the PTSA website. You will be able to choose the payment option to pay by check or credit card.

2. Early registration is available only to members. You can buy your PTSA membership online. Once membership is purchased you will receive an email for access to extended classes registration. Please note that membership approval is not instant, and with the large volume of membership processing in the beginning of a school year, parents are encouraged to sign up as current PTSA members prior to the early registration period. You can email info@audubonptsa.org to check access to the registration page if there is a problem.

3. If you are not a PTSA members you can enroll during open registration period.

Audubon Extended Classes, Session 1 -  2018/2019

Audubon PTSA is excited to bring you a wide variety of Extended Classes this session. These classes are conducted on the school premises before and after school hours by independent contractors and in some cases, by school teachers. Class times and dates are coordinated with school start and end times and LWSD holidays and are listed on each class registration form. 

With the new bell schedule effective 2018-19:

Morning before school class will typically run between 7:35-8:35 a.m. on school days. 

After school class time will typically be 3:30-4:30 p.m. with the exception of Wednesdays which will start at 2:00 p.m.

There will be no adult supervision at school outside the class time as specified for each Extended Class.

Early bird discounted rates for all classes will be available between 9/10-9/16 for PTSA members.
Please note - You must be a current PTSA member to access the registration site during early registration period between September 10-16.  When signing up for a PTSA membership, there may be a delay of several hours to allow parent verification and access. You will receive a PTSA membership email once this process is complete.  At that time you'll have access to register for extended classes. Thank you.
 
Open enrollments between 9/17 and 10/6 pay full price. Non-members can register during open enrollment.

Registration Instructions

  1. Session 1 - 2018/2019 Registration has been closed. No registration changes (including adding from waitlist, or withdrawal from class) can be made after Oct-6, the second week of the current session. 
  2. Payment methods during open registration
    • The easiest way to register is to pay online via credit card/PayPal.
    • If you select to pay by check, you must first register online to secure your student's spot in a class. Then print your registration confirmation page and attach your check. Checks should be made out to 'Audubon PTSA' and sent to school in an envelope marked Attn: "PTSA Extended Classes".
    • Cash payments are not accepted. If your family is not able to pay via check or credit card, please contact the PTSA Extended Classes Chairs at ec@audubonptsa.org to determine an appropriate payment method.

 You do not need to turn in hard copies of registration forms again after completing the online registration.

  1. Class Chaperones

By registering for a class, you agree to the Audubon Elementary PTSA Extended Classes Chaperone Policy Agreement.

A parent chaperone is required for each class (in addition to the class instructor).  A dedicated chaperone position is available for parent volunteers who are willing to chaperone all classes during a session.

For classes that do not have a dedicated chaperone, you will be required to provide an adult volunteer to chaperone one or more days of the extended class. A chaperone is defined as an adult LWSD-approved PTSA member. Days will be assigned prior to the start of each class. To fulfill this requirement you need to:

      1. Be an LWSD approved volunteer approved by the Lake Washington school district. Approval generally takes 2 weeks so please ensure that you submit your application early. Application forms can be found here

Other Instructions
  • Chaperones are expected to sit in class on their assigned day for the full duration of the class and merely observe the goings-on. They act as witnesses for the PTSA in case of an issue. They do not need to help the class instructor, but may do so if mutually agreeable. The class instructor has the responsibility to check the students in and out of class and conduct the class.
  • Chaperones are expected to wait with the instructor until the last student is picked up.
  • Many of our extended class vendors have agreed to a fee waiver/reduction for one student who provides a dedicated chaperone for all the days in the session. If you are willing and able to be a dedicated chaperone, please sign up when completing the online registration.
  • Withdrawal policies, registration and refund information are listed in our Audubon Elementary PTSA Extended Classes Policy Document.
  • Most classes begin 10 minutes after the dismissal bell. Students should proceed directly from their classroom to their after-school class location and check in with their instructor. They may bring a small snack to eat before class begins. Please pick up your student promptly at the end of the extended class. Students are not allowed to leave the school premise without adult supervision.
